Terrace Hill tours cost $5 for adults and $2 for children ages 6-12. Tours are free for children ages 5 and under. We accept cash or check only.
Street parking and handicapped parking is available on Forest Drive, which is on the west side of the property. Motor coach and bus parking is available in the same area. Additional parking is located in the Terrace Hill parking lot at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Forest Drive. No parking is available on the Terrace Hill grounds. The tour lasts approximately one hour. It consists of a 15 minute introductory video in the Carriage House and a 45 minute tour of the residence. Weather permitting, the gardens will be included in the tour.
Yes, the Terrace Hill Residence and gardens are available for established organizations to rent for events. Please note the use of Terrace Hill for fundraising events is strictly prohibited. To inquire about renting Terrace Hill for your organization’s event, please contact the Terrace Hill Event Coordinator at 515-281-7205.
No, Terrace Hill cannot be rented for private events, including (but not limited to) weddings and birthday parties.
All events listed on our events page are open to the public! Some events are free, while others require the purchase of a ticket. All details will be listed on the event’s page. Over the years, the weight of the flags displayed at the top of the Terrace Hill tower created damage and leaking in the roof. In 2015, a solution was reached when the current flag pavilion was constructed near the west edge of the Terrace Hill property. The flag pavilion marks the pedestrian entrance for Terrace Hill’s visitors.
No, professional photography sessions (such as graduation photos, family photos, and wedding photos) are not permitted at Terrace Hill.
