The Terrace Hill Piano Competition
In 1986, the Terrace Hill Endowment for Musical Arts established the Terrace Hill Piano Competition. The competition is held annually at the Iowa PBS studios in Johnston, Iowa. The dates for 2022 are February 4-5.
Junior Piano Competition
Applications are closed. The THEMA Junior Competition is full for February 2022.
All entrants must be in grades 9-11. The 2022 competition will take place the evening of Friday, February 4.
In 2022, the first-place, second-place, and third-place awards are courtesy of Jennon Caruth, Clarity Enrollment Solutions, Minneapolis: first-place, $250; second-place, $150; third-place, $100.
Senior Piano Competition
All entrants must be Iowa high school seniors. The 2022 competition will take place on Saturday, February 5.
First-place, second-place, and third-place will each be awarded a scholarship over a two-year period to enroll as a piano major or minor at any Iowa college or university, with the winner receiving "The First Family of Iowa Scholarship." Scholarship amounts for 2022 are: first-place, $4,000; second-place, $2,000; third-place, $1,000.
