After a year of development and careful planning, the Terrace Hill Partnership, in collaboration with AEA Learning Online, proudly introduces two new immersive resources to explore Terrace Hill, Iowa Governor’s Residence and National Historic Landmark: a 3D tour and interactive lesson.

AEA Learning Online, an initiative of Iowa's Area Education Agencies, provides quality online learning opportunities for Iowa's teachers and students. The development of the Terrace Hill 3D tour and module lesson is the first in an Iowa historic sites collection that AEA Learning Online is creating as a resource for Iowa classrooms. Students have access to the Terrace Hill immersive resources on AEA Learning Online’s Student Personalized Learning System. Teachers can assign the tour and lesson for credit as part of their Iowa history curriculum, and students can tour the Residence and work independently at their own pace.

It’s not only Iowa classrooms that get to enjoy the immersive resources, but the general public as well. The Terrace Hill 3D tour and interactive lesson are also available on the Terrace Hill website.

Nothing truly replaces a physical visit to the historic site, but the new resources allow the Iowa community – and the world – to experience Terrace Hill virtually anytime, anywhere. The increased awareness of the historic home is expected to have a positive impact on in-person guided tour interest.

For those wishing to visit Terrace Hill, guided tours are offered Tuesdays through Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. (excluding major holidays) from March through December. All visitors are required to make a reservation at least 48 hours prior to the intended tour time. To make a reservation for a Terrace Hill tour, call 515-281-7205 during office hours Mondays through Fridays, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
